How a semester grade is calculated

Your overall grade is a weighted average: each component's score is multiplied by its weight, the products are summed, and that total is divided by the sum of the weights.

What if my weights do not add up to 100%?

The calculator still works — it divides by the total weight you entered, giving the weighted average of those components. To project a full course grade, make sure every graded component is included and the weights match your syllabus.

How do I find the weight of each component?

Your syllabus lists them — for example, homework 20%, midterm 25%, final 40%. If a category has several items (like five quizzes), combine them into one average and enter the category's total weight.

Can I see what grade I still need?
